Michael Worsham is a solo attorney licensed in all state and federal courts in both Maryland and the District of Columbia, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. A graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, he also has a B.S. in Chemistry from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook, and an M.S. in Civil Engineering. Mr. Worsham uses his background in law, science and engineering to work hard for his clients to achieve the rights that have been taken from them. He is dedicated to a achieving justice for his clients and society as a whole.

Michael Worsham’s main practice areas are in consumer protection, privacy law, and general tort litigation. He is especially active protecting citizens privacy from abusive telemarketers and junk faxers under the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. He has also been successful helping citizens oppose cellular towers being sited under the 1996 Telecommunications Act, and has filed a Petition to the U.S. Supreme Court on cell tower health issues. Please see the Briefs section to read the Supreme Court Petition and other briefs and opinions.

Michael Worsham is a member of the Maryland Association of Justice, the Association of Consumer Advocates, and Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition.

Fair Debt Collection Practices and Collection defense

Are you being harassed or sued by collectors? I have sued collectors and the original creditors, and sometimes defended collection brought against
consumers.

Fair Credit Reporting Act

Errors in consumer credit reports are not uncommon. Identity theft also creates credit reporting problems. Unfortunately the automated processes used by the major credit bureaus often do not correct all errors, even when several consumer disputes are made for the errors. I sue the three major credit bureaus for consumers who assert their rights have been violated.

Telephone Consumer Protection Act

The TCPA created the popular national do not call list. However, telemarketers, advertisers, and junk faxers continue to violate the law. A major practice area of mine is suing telemarketers and junk faxers.

Spam E-mail

A little known or used Maryland law (and the federal CAN SPAM law) prohibit certain types of false or deceptive commercial e-mail. Maryland law provide for $500 damages and attorneys fees for successful litigation. The laws target and regulate the false and deceptive nature of certain commercial e-mail, or using domain names without permission, and not simply because the e-mail is unsolicited. If you can positively identify the sender or those responsible for sending you false or deceptive commercial e-mail, you may contact me to discuss your situation.

Civil Rights
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is an active practice area getting positive results. An ADA suit reached a favorable outcome by making two Baltimore County stores accessible to persons dependent on wheelchairs.

Cellular Towers and Antennas
Michael Worsham has represented citizens at zoning hearings to stop or slow the siting of cellular towers and antennas. In July 2000 the Maryland Court of Special Appeals rendered a favorable decision for a client opposing a cellular tower. He was also one of several dozen citizens across the U.S. who petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court in Sept. 2000 to review the FCC’s radiation standards and the constitutionality of the 1996 Telecommunications Act.
